Transform Trauma Into Healing Through Art
Returning citizens face difficult challenges reintegrating in society—employment discrimination, homelessness, and the heavy weight of social isolation. Many carry the trauma of their experience, struggling with shame and stigma as they work to rebuild their lives.
Re-Entry Theater of Harlem knows that transformation is possible. Through theater, ritual, art, and community, we create spaces where returning citizens can process their pain, reclaim their dignity, and discover their power to transform. Our 8-week immersive arts program—developed in partnership with the Louis Armstrong House Museum, Central Synagogue's Coming Home program and Rikers Public Memory Project—uses collage, poetry, mask-making, storytelling and facilitated dialogue to help participants move from survival to thriving.
Join Re-Entry Theater of Harlem in supporting the healing and transformation of returning citizens across New York City. Your donation provides access to life-changing arts programming, therapeutic services, and community support that honors the resilience of those building new lives.

"I had the pleasure of sitting next to Rory and Alex on the flight from NYC to Seattle as they were heading to University of Puget Sound. With the airplane noise it was challenging at times to hear what the program was all about as Rory told me what they were doing. I got home and looked it up. I wish I fully understood at the time what they have been doing. Very inspirational and a much needed program towards helping prisoners in rehabilitation! I wish there were more like it in the U.S! Though small, I hope this donation helps. I hope Rory and Alex are enjoying Seattle and their time here is impactful! Please tell them hello from the passenger on their flight!"
